The Chairman of Atiba Local Government Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji WABKEM has announced a decisive measures aimed at ensuring public safety and order throughout the upcoming Ileya (Eid-el-Kabir) festivities.
In a proactive move, the Council chairman WABKEM has intensified security surveillance across all communities and has imposed a temporary ban on all carnival-related activities before and after the Ileya celebration.

The decisions were made following strategic consultations with traditional leaders, security agencies, community representatives, and religious bodies, as part of ongoing efforts to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

Executive Chairman of Atiba LG, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji WABKEM, stated that the measures were necessary in response to rising concerns over recent disturbances and criminal activities often associated with unregulated carnivals and street gatherings.
“We are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of our people. While we recognize the cultural significance of Ileya, we cannot ignore the threat posed by unauthorized carnivals and overnight gatherings. This is a preventive step to ensure peace reigns across Atiba during and after the festival,” Hon. WABKEM said.
The Council has ordered a comprehensive deployment of local vigilantes, Amotekun Corps, police patrol teams, and other security agents to monitor public spaces, inner streets, and high-risk areas leaving no nook or cranny unchecked.
Residents are advised to celebrate the Ileya Festival peacefully and lawfully, observing all local regulations. Any individual or group found violating the carnival ban or engaging in acts that threaten the peace will face the full weight of the law.
Atiba Local Government appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders and urges citizens to report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest security post.
