The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, has applauded the efforts of the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) for organizing a town hall meeting aimed at fostering inclusion, transparency, and accountability in local governance.
Speaking at the event held at the Egbeda Local Government Secretariat, Hon. Sanda praised the Executive Director of BBYDI, Mrs. Nurah Jimoh-Sanni (Esq), and her team for their commitment to strengthening citizen participation at the grassroots level.

“I want to appreciate the organizers of this programme for bringing such an educative initiative to Egbeda. Your efforts are highly commendable,” the chairman said during his opening remarks.

He further expressed the local government’s readiness to collaborate with credible non-governmental organizations, emphasizing that both government and citizens have mutual responsibilities in driving community development.
The town hall meeting, themed “Building People-Centered Local Government Through Active Citizen Engagement,” featured a keynote address by Prince (Dr.) Ayobami Sanda Ladigbolu, who emphasized the importance of civic participation and community advocacy.
“Civic engagement means active participation in community development, while advocacy involves amplifying the voices of the people,” Dr. Ladigbolu stated.
According to organizers, the event was designed to foster dialogue between young citizens and elected officials, promote civic empathy, and provide a platform to track campaign promises. The broader aim, they noted, is to empower youth to take ownership of their communities and hold public officials accountable.
Executive Director Mrs. Jimoh-Sanni described the town hall as “a forum to promote open and transparent interactions between citizens and lawmakers at the grassroots,” highlighting its role in deepening democratic values at the local level.
Participants included representatives from the traditional council, Community Development Committees (CDCs), Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), youth groups, religious leaders, farmers, market leaders, and other stakeholders from across Egbe
