The Poly Young Academia has applauded the Governor of oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde on the renaming of the polytechnic ibadan as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, in an appreciation letter written to his Excellency, the group see this gesture as not only a befitting tribute to the legacy of Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo but also a symbolic reminder of honoring our heros. The letter reads……
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, for his visionary leadership and historic decision to rename The Polytechnic, Ibadan as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic.

This gesture is not only a fitting tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a distinguished mathematician, The first Principal/Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, a former Governor of Oyo State, and one of Nigeria’s most brilliant intellectuals—it is also a symbolic reminder of the importance of honoring our heroes. This action is one of the numerous efforts to immortalize our heroes, such as the former University of Ife, which was renamed after the great icon Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and the Ogun State University, which is now named after Chief Olabisi Onabanjo. The list is endless.

By renaming this prestigious institution after Dr. Olunloyo, Governor Makinde has demonstrated a deep commitment to education, excellence, and the preservation of our collective heritage. This decision inspires current and future generations to strive for intellectual achievement and public service, values Dr. Olunloyo has championed throughout his life.
We proudly support this renaming and applaud the Governor for his foresight. May this act serve as a beacon, encouraging our society to recognize and celebrate merit, scholarship, and enduring service to the state and the nation.
Once again, thank you, Your Excellency, for writing history with honor and wisdom.
Signed
THE POLY YOUNG ACADEMIA
