
In a powerful display of purpose-driven leadership and philanthropy, Oloye Benedict Akika marked his birthday on July 9, with the official launching of incorporation of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF) as legal non-governmental organization (NGO) for global acceptance.
The incorporation of OBF coinciding with his birthday has been hailed by many as a symbolic gesture of Akika’s lifelong commitment to service, empowerment, and community transformation.

Oloye Benedict Akika, a respected grassroots mobilizer and public figure, holds several traditional and civic titles. He is the Founder of Omituntun Benedict Foundation, President of the Omituntun Benedict Forum, Agba’Akin Ataiyse Oodua Agbaye, Mayegun of Akoboland, and Agbaakin of Olorunda-Abaa. He is also a recipient of the MOFI (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Outstanding Impact) and the prestigious Grand Leadership Prize (GLP).

The official launching was performed by Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole who applauded the enforce of the foundation OBF for the past 10 years and its impacts across Oyo State. He promised his contribution to the foundation which believed would be led by the Overall Leader of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde.
Speaking at the event, Traditional Leaders such as Elejioku of Ejioku Oba Bashiru Adeshina, Onilalupo of Lalupo Oba Muniru Arigbabuwo among other traditional leaders expressed deep gratitude to God and to the people who have supported the journey of OBF so far, stating:
“The impact of Omituntun Benedict Foundation on Olorunda-Abaa Police Station brought the development of Akobo – Olorunda-Abaa Road and this is laudable while the foundation has been thriving for the past 10 years. Now it’s incorporated which means more development to the communities, Oyo State, Nigeria and Global.
In the presence of the Member Representing Ibadan NorthWest State, Hon (Dr) Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, Chief Macadof, Chairman Youth Agency Prince Adebowale Falana, Oyo State PDP Women Leader Chief (Mrs) Wulemot Ibitoye, Big Daddy Sugar Olatoye, Chief (Dr) Moshood Ismaila, Lagelu Vice Chairman Hon Raji Sodiq, Akinyele Council Secretary Hon Kagara, Chief Ayo Alayande, Hon Adebayo Babajide Gabriel of Ibadan North State Constituency II, Hon Sola Owolabi of Ibadan North East II, Oyo SCDA Chairman Hon Adeaga, Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, OBF elders & members and others.
The OBF will serve as a platform to formalize and expand Akika’s philanthropic work, with programs focusing on education, health outreach, youth empowerment, women’s development, and poverty alleviation, especially across communities in Oyo State, Nigeria and Global.
The launch was attended by traditional leaders, political figures, community advocates, and youth groups, all commending Akika’s unwavering commitment to development and his visionary leadership.
The birthday-turned-foundation-launch has sparked excitement across social and political circles, with many describing the day as a “double celebration of life and legacy.”
