Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, widely known as Don, has expressed profound gratitude following his emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the forthcoming bye-election in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Oyekunle was elected through a transparent and democratic process at the ad-hoc delegate congress held last Friday at the Ibadan North PDP Secretariat, where he secured a unanimous victory.

In a statement titled “A Heart of Gratitude,” Oyekunle described his emergence as a reflection of the trust and confidence the party and constituents have placed in his leadership. He pledged to approach the mandate with utmost dedication, integrity, and a people-first agenda.

He extended special appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, whom he hailed as the leader and pillar of the PDP in the state. Oyekunle commended Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership and commitment to a fair and credible primary process.

He also acknowledged the professionalism and impartiality of the PDP National Committee for their oversight, as well as the support and coordination of the Oyo State PDP executives throughout the exercise.

“I do not take this opportunity for granted,” Oyekunle stated. “I am truly grateful to the party and the people of Ibadan North for standing by me. Together, we will build a stronger, more progressive constituency.”
