Pacesetter Queens FC Unveiled in Oyo State With New Logo, Club Leadership

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Pacesetter Queens FC, Oyo State’s premier female football club, was officially unveiled at a vibrant press conference in Ibadan. The event showcased the club’s new logo, introduced its dynamic leadership team, and outlined an ambitious vision to transform women’s football in Nigeria. Attended by football stakeholders, dignitaries, and media partners, the ceremony highlighted Oyo State’s commitment to sports development and gender equality.

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, who presided over the unveiling, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his steadfast support. “His Excellency’s dedication to empowering female athletes through financial backing and goodwill has made this milestone possible,” Adegoke stated, emphasizing the governor’s role in fostering equal opportunities for women in sports. The new logo, described as bold and modern, symbolizes the strength, unity, and aspirations of the players and fans, signaling Pacesetter Queens FC’s readiness to make a mark on national and international stages.

The newly appointed leadership team, a group of seasoned professionals, was introduced. Head Coach Akinwunmi Obajimi leads the technical staff, joined by First Assistant Coach Damilola Olaitan Badmus, a former player with a CAF C license, and Second Assistant Coach Zaccheaus Aderoju. The team is completed by Physical Trainer Lateef Lukman, FIFA-badged Goalkeeper Trainer Foluso Ajayi, and Welfare Officer Miss Grace Towobola, who holds CAF and UEFA B licenses. Their expertise is set to drive talent development and elevate the club’s operations.

Adegoke announced strategic plans, including a one-month trial period for aspiring players, with a team bus to be provided post-trials. Training facilities at Adamasingba Stadium (main bowl and astroturf) and Olubadan Stadium are being prepared, with an official flag-off by Governor Makinde upcoming. The commissioner urged players to wear the club’s jersey with pride, representing Oyo State’s football community with passion and purpose.

Also in attendance are Mrs OJ Agboola Director Sport Administration, Mrs FO Idowu Director Admin and Supplies, Mr Raheem Director Sport Facilities and Mrs Taiwo Salami Director Finance and Accounts.

Goodwill messages came from ex-international Mutiu Adepoju, and Oyo State Football Association Chairman Oba James Odeniran, reflecting strong support for the club’s objectives. Adegoke thanked the media for amplifying women’s sports and called on fans to embrace Pacesetter Queens FC as a movement to shape the future of football. With robust leadership and a clear vision, the club is poised to set new standards in Nigerian women’s football.
