The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, on Thursday received the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, alongside members of the commission’s board, at the council secretariat, Ibadan, for the ongoing staff verification exercise across the 33 local governments in Oyo State.
Speaking during the exercise, Bashorun Akinwole clarified that the staff verification exercise was not intended to witch-hunt workers but rather to ensure proper staff documentation, discipline, and improved welfare. He explained that the exercise would help authenticate the actual number of workers on the payroll, assess compliance with service rules, evaluate the working environment, and update records, particularly for those who had recently earned promotions.
He emphasized that the exercise, being conducted simultaneously across all councils, was designed to strengthen efficiency and accountability within the local government system.
In his remarks, Hon. Sanda commended the LGSC Chairman and his team for what he described as a groundbreaking initiative, noting that such an exercise had never been witnessed in the history of the commission. He also lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his continuous efforts to provide a conducive working environment for civil servants across the state.
The council boss urged staff members to reciprocate the government’s commitment by remaining dedicated, disciplined, and diligent in the discharge of their duties.
Hon. Sanda further noted that the era of unpaid gratuities for retirees in Oyo State had ended under the current administration, recalling his participation at a recent gratuity payment exercise organized by the Local Government Staff Pension Board (LGSPB).
He concluded by praying for journey mercies for the LGSC Chairman and his delegation as they continued the verification tour across the state.
The verification and screening exercise was conducted for staff of Egbeda Local Government and Ajorosun LCDA simultaneously.
