In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the Halima Bawa Foundation has called on young girls across Nigeria to prioritise their menstrual health as a means of building confidence and resilience for the future.
The foundation, on Friday, organised a menstrual hygiene awareness campaign in selected secondary schools across Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State. The outreach, which featured educational sessions and the distribution of essential hygiene products, aimed to promote better menstrual management and general well-being among adolescent girls.

Students from Community Secondary School, Alegongo and N.O. Idowu Comprehensive High School, Olorunda-Aba participated in the programme. Items distributed included sanitary pads, shaving sticks, soaps, and toothpastes.

Speaking during the sensitisation session, the foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Halima Bawa, educated the students on proper menstrual hygiene practices and encouraged them to embrace self-care and confidence during their menstrual cycles.
Representing the Lagelu Local Government authority at the event, Mr. Olutunde Benedict, Supervisor for Medical Matters, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely and impactful intervention. He lauded the foundation’s effort in supporting girl-child development and promoting health awareness within the community.
