In commemoration of the 2025 Global Handwashing Day, Egbeda Local Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), joined millions of participants worldwide to promote the life-saving habit of handwashing with soap.
The event, themed “Be a Handwashing Hero,” was officially flagged off by the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oladebo Simple. Speaking at the campaign’s launch, he emphasized that regular handwashing remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent infections and protect lives.

Joining the campaign as an ambassador, Mrs. Ajao Nafisat Temitope took the awareness drive to Gbagi Market, where she sensitized traders on the health benefits of regular handwashing and its role in safeguarding families and communities.
The sensitization team, which moved across Efun, Gbagi International Market, and Akingbade areas of Egbeda, included prominent figures such as the Leader of Egbeda Legislative Arm, Hon. Olakanmi Olusola; Hon. Rafiu Ibrahim; Hon. Sarafadeen Salaudeen; Hon. Jimoh Arowolo; the Supervisor for Health, Hon.
