Hon. Sanda Reaffirms Support For Farmers At 2025 World Food Day Celebration

Farmers, stakeholders, and residents from across Oyo State converged on the open grounds of the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, for the grand finale of the 2025 World Food Day celebration, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.” The event emphasized the need for collective action in tackling challenges confronting the global food system.

The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, was represented by the Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Job Tayewo Olusola, alongside members of the council’s executive cabinet. The team joined in celebrating the achievements of farmers and the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources from Egbeda, who participated in the exhibition with an impressive display of farm produce.

In his remarks, Hon. Sanda commended the farmers for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and hard work despite economic and environmental challenges. He lauded their pivotal role in sustaining the state’s food supply and contributing to national food security.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to agricultural growth, the council boss promised continued support through empowerment initiatives, access to quality inputs, and other interventions aimed at boosting productivity within the local government.

The Egbeda delegation showcased a wide range of food and cash crops, reflecting the area’s agricultural strength and potential.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Leader of Egbeda Legislative Council, Hon. Olusola Olakanmi; Director of Agriculture, Pastor Adepoju Samuel; Sanitarian Victoria Baale; Mr. Abiola Adebayo; Alhaji Hammed; Mr. Adeoyega; Mrs. Salawu; and a host of enthusiastic farmers.
