The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, has been honoured with an award for outstanding leadership in community health development by the National Health Fellows.
The recognition, presented at a high-level gathering of health professionals, stakeholders, and policymakers, celebrates Egbeda LGA’s significant strides in strengthening maternal health systems and promoting digital access to healthcare services. Under Hon. Sanda’s leadership, the council has empowered pregnant women and primary healthcare workers through innovative digital health initiatives and sustained investment in grassroots medical infrastructure.

Representing the Executive Chairman at the event, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Dr. Monsurat Alaga, expressed gratitude on behalf of the local government. She described Hon. Sanda as a visionary leader committed to safeguarding maternal lives and enhancing health service delivery.

“Hon. Sanda believes no mother should lose her life while giving life. His administration remains dedicated to upgrading primary healthcare facilities, promoting technological innovations, and strengthening the capacity of PHC personnel,” she said.
Receiving the honour, Hon. Sanda reaffirmed Egbeda’s alignment with the healthcare agenda of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
“Our efforts reflect Governor Makinde’s vision for a technology-driven, accessible healthcare ecosystem across Oyo State. Egbeda is proud to be leading progress in this transformative journey,” he noted.
The event also provided a platform for broad dialogue on maternal and mental health challenges, as well as emerging innovations to improve community-based care across Nigeria.
