Oyo Fire Service Demonstrates Efficiency As Agency Rescues Middle-Aged Man From Deep Well In Iseyin

A swift operation by officers of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Iseyin Command, led to the successful recovery of a 45-year-old man who fell into a deep well at Odo-Ogbo, Oja Agbe area of Iseyin.

The distress call, received at exactly 9:04 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, came through a running caller and one Mrs. Azeez Iyabo, reporting that an individual was trapped inside a well at the said location.

Acting promptly, the Command’s team, under the leadership of Chief Fire Superintendent (CFS) Banuso, immediately mobilized and proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim had reportedly fallen into the well on Wednesday night.

Utilizing professional rescue techniques and equipment, the fire service team successfully recovered the man and handed him over to officers from the Okutapemo Divisional Police Headquarters, Iseyin, for further investigation.

Reacting to the incident, the Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, commended the swift response of the Iseyin Command and cautioned residents to exercise greater care in their surroundings. He emphasized the need to avoid isolated areas and urged members of the public to always stay alert to prevent avoidable accidents.

“We must all be cautious in our daily activities to avoid being trapped in places where help may not readily come. Safety awareness and prompt reporting are key,” he stated.
