The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman of all Council Chairmen in Oyo State, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, has been presented with an Award of Outstanding Impact in Grassroots Sport Development by Urban Day Grammar School, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
The honour was conferred during the school’s Inter-House Sports Competition held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to sports development in Egbeda Local Government and Oyo State.
According to the school management, the award celebrates Hon. Sanda’s consistent support for grassroots sports and his role as a pillar of sporting development in the community. The chairman is also the patron of Pink House, one of the participating houses in the competition.
While receiving the award, Hon. Sanda expressed gratitude to the school authorities for the recognition. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sports across public schools within Egbeda and its environs.
He noted that grassroots sports development aligns with the vision of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, adding that Egbeda Local Government remains dedicated to leading initiatives that strengthen youth participation in athletics and other sporting activities.
“Egbeda is proud to be at the forefront of developing sports. We will continue to support schools and create more opportunities for young talents to thrive,” he said.
