The Oyo State Fire Services Agency on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, swiftly responded to a fire outbreak involving a garbage truck in front of the Mobil Filling Station at Yemetu, Ibadan.

The distress call, received at exactly 15:46 hours through a telephone report by Mrs. Ajao, alerted the agency to the incident. Officers led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen were immediately mobilised to the scene.

Upon arrival, the firefighters met a DAF garbage truck, registration number unknown, loaded with refuse and already engulfed in flames. The crew promptly commenced firefighting operations, successfully extinguishing the blaze.

The Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command, joined the operation, ensuring the fire was fully contained. No casualties were recorded.

Preliminary findings indicated that the fire resulted from a fuel leakage in the truck’s fuel compartment.

The appliance returned to the station at 16:55 hours and was placed on standby for further emergency response.
