OYO FIREFIGHTERS ON FIRE: 33,000-Litre Tanker Crash, Two House Fires Contained In One Day

Oyo State Fire Services Agency has averted multiple fire disasters across Ibadan and Kishi following three separate emergencies recorded on Wednesday, 26th November 2025.
All incidents were swiftly attended to by the Agency’s officers, preventing loss of lives and saving properties worth millions of naira.

Tanker Accident Averted at Liberty Academy, Ibadan

The first emergency was reported at 16:16hrs at Lasi 2, Liberty Academy, Odo-Ona Elewe, Ibadan, where a 33,000-litre petrol tanker (MACK, DEP175XB – Lagos) skidded into a ditch, causing PMS to gush out.
Firefighters led by CFS Adekola (Mrs.) immediately deployed and applied chemical foam compound to suppress the highly flammable content.

Thanks to their prompt intervention, a major explosion was prevented and no casualty was recorded. Officers remained on ground until the following morning to ensure public safety before restoring normal vehicular movement in the community.

Fire Contained at Prestige Estate, Onirele, Ibadan

Later at 20:58hrs, the Agency responded to another distressed call concerning a residential fire at No. 17, Prestige Estate, Joop Bad Hour Crescent, Onirele, Ibadan.
A team led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen found the living room of a four-bedroom duplex already engulfed in flames. The firefighters launched an aggressive attack and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other sections of the building.

There were no casualties, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Kishi Command Stops Generator Room Fire From Spreading

Earlier at 19:03hrs, the Kishi Command of the Agency responded to a fire at No. 1, Alhaji Rosco Street, Ajangba Area, Kishi.
The generator room of a four-bedroom flat was already on fire before the arrival of responders led by CFS Olayiwola. The team acted swiftly and extinguished the fire before it could spread to the main building. All occupants were safe.

Agency Warns Public on Fire Safety

The Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Hon. Dr. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, commended the officers for their professionalism and urged motorists and residents to remain conscious of safety, especially during the dry season.
He emphasized the need for fire extinguishers in homes and strict adherence to road safety guidelines to prevent avoidable emergencies.
