Tanker Fire Contained at Filling Station in Kishi
At exactly 21:30hrs on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the Agency received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at Bon-Kay Filling Station along Kara Area, Kishi Road/Igbeti. Firefighters, led by AFS Akande, were immediately deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Volvo truck (Reg. No. KSB 300XB) loaded with 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was engulfed in flames while transloading petroleum products into underground tanks. The fire, caused by sparks generated during the transloading process, affected the tanker trailer and parts of the filling station.
Using foam chemical compounds, the fire crew swiftly contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. A 35-year-old man was rescued alive and taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The operation was successfully concluded, and the appliance returned to the station at 15:21hrs on Monday, February 23, 2026.
