The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman of all Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, has commissioned a newly renovated and remodelled multipurpose hall within the council premises along Gbagi–Old Ife Road.

The facility, which has been renamed Tamunominini Multipurpose Hall, was officially inaugurated by the First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, who served as the special guest of honour at the ceremony.

Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Oyedele said the renovation project reflects the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and providing functional public facilities for residents of Egbeda Local Government.

According to him, the upgraded hall will serve as a venue for community programmes, official engagements, and civic events, while also providing a conducive environment for the solemnisation of marriages and other social gatherings.

“The remodelling of this facility is part of our broader effort to enhance public infrastructure and create a befitting environment for community development activities,” he said.

In her remarks, the First Lady commended the Egbeda Local Government chairman for prioritising infrastructural development and urged other local government chairmen in the state to replicate similar initiatives in their respective councils.

She noted that providing a dignified and conducive space for marriage ceremonies underscores the importance of the family institution, which she described as the foundation of a stable society.

Mrs. Makinde also used the occasion to highlight the benefits of the state’s health insurance programme, encouraging residents—particularly elderly citizens—to enrol in the scheme to access early diagnosis and management of illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes and arthritis.

As part of the event, 250 residents were enrolled into the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme, enabling them to access healthcare services at subsidised rates.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the unveiling of the newly upgraded facility.
