Apex leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have declared that the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, remains the party’s unanimously endorsed candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the party leaders insisted that any individual parading himself as a candidate outside the consensus arrangement is “wasting his time and resources,” urging such aspirants to seek refunds from those who allegedly collected money under the guise of securing the party’s ticket for them.

The leaders emphasized that the PDP in Ido has a longstanding tradition of rewarding loyal and qualified party members with elective opportunities, noting that the party would not deviate from this principle by handing its ticket to “an outsider hurriedly introduced into the party for personal ambition.”

They further explained that the 2027 election presents a significant opportunity for Ido Local Government to produce the House of Representatives candidate for the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, following what they described as a concession by Ibarapa East stakeholders. According to them, the decision to endorse Adeojo was based on his credibility, experience, and longstanding commitment to the party.
“No aspirant is more qualified than Hon. Sheriff Adeojo,” the statement read, describing him as a tested and dependable party figure.
The leaders also criticized individuals allegedly attempting to undermine the consensus process, accusing them of being motivated by financial inducements from a particular aspirant. They maintained that the party ticket is “not for sale” and warned against using the PDP as a platform for fraudulent activities.
“It is time politicians stopped introducing unknown elements into the party simply to exploit them financially, thereby threatening the unity and stability of the PDP,” the statement added.
Reaffirming their position, the leaders reiterated that the authentic party structure in Ido has concluded all necessary consultations and firmly stands behind Adeojo’s candidacy. They advised any contrary aspirant to desist from further spending and instead recover funds from those who misled them.
Party stakeholders from various wards who attended the meeting and affirmed their support include Alhaji Issa Alabanla (Ward 8), Hon. Rasak Mabaje (Ward 9), Alhaji Adelabu Alaba (Ward 4), Comrade Babalola Rasak (Ward 10), Alhaji Diekola Mukiala (Ward 9), Alhaji Ibrahim Tiamiyu (Ward 2), Alhaji Atilola Tajudeen (Ward 10), Alhaji Lawal Asimiyu (Ward 5), Mr. Tirimisiyu Lamidi (Ward 8), Mr. Lateef Fashola (Ward 7), Mr. Jimoh Obey (Ward 1), Alhaji Gbadamosi Kamorudeen (Ward 5), and Mr. Akinwande Olukunle (Ward 3).
