Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have adopted Ogbeni Adedamola Olajide, popularly known as “Elegant,” as the party’s consensus candidate for the forthcoming Oyo State House of Assembly election.

The decision was reached on Saturday following a meeting of key party stakeholders, where a unanimous agreement was secured among leaders across the local government.

Olajide, who currently serves as a supervisory councillor representing Ward 7 in Ido Local Government, emerged as the preferred candidate after what party leaders described as extensive consultations and alignment of interests within the party.

Speaking on the development, the leaders expressed confidence in Olajide’s ability to secure victory for the PDP in the state assembly poll. They noted that his political influence at the grassroots, combined with his track record in public office, makes him a strong contender.

According to them, Elegant has demonstrated credible leadership qualities and has performed effectively in delivering representation and service to his constituents.

“He has shown capacity and commitment in his current role, and we believe he possesses the political strength and acceptance needed to win the election,” the leaders said.

Those involved in the consensus arrangement include Alhaji Wasiu Yusuff, representing local youth leaders; Mrs. Adeagbo Adebisi; Mr. Lawal Taofeek; Mr. Gbadamosi Lukuman; the Local Party Secretary, Mr. Fadeyibi Abiodun; Moruf Ajibade; Abideen Lawal; John Olatunde; and Funmilayo Adelolu, among others.
