As political activities pick up across Oyo State, Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde has maintained a calm and focused posture, choosing governance and delivery over the growing political noise.

The Deputy Director of GSM Advocates, Bashorun Saintabey, said the governor’s approach is deliberate and strategic, adding that in a period where many are desperate for attention, Makinde is allowing results to speak for him.

“In a season of noise, Governor Seyi Makinde chooses results over rhetoric. His silence is not weakness. It creates anxiety for the opposition and confidence for supporters. That is strategy, not silence,” Saintabey said.

Governor Makinde, while addressing residents at a recent public engagement, acknowledged the rise in political talk but urged the people not to be distracted.

“It is political time, and such noise is expected. But I know the people of Oyo State are aware. You know those who truly care about you and those who only appear when it is time for politics,” the governor said.

He reiterated that his administration remains committed to projects that directly improve the lives of citizens across the 33 local government areas.

According to GSM Advocates, the Makinde administration has consistently prioritized infrastructure, education, health, and security since 2019, in line with the Oyo State Roadmap to Accelerated Development.

Saintabey noted that the governor’s quiet style has helped the government avoid distractions and stay focused on service delivery.

“Governance is not by noise. It is by real content, real projects, and real impact. Roads are being constructed, schools are being renovated, primary health centers are being equipped, and security architecture is being strengthened,” he stated.

He added that the confidence among supporters comes from visible projects on ground, while the anxiety in opposition circles stems from the inability to fault the administration’s performance.

“We are not asking for PR. We are asking for fair journalism and fair judgement. Let the people judge this government by what it has delivered, not by the volume of political noise,” he said.

Residents across Ibadan and other parts of the state said they prefer action to words. “These days politics is just shouting. But we are seeing the roads, the schools, the hospitals. So we already know who is working,” said Mrs. Adebayo, a trader at Oja Oba Market.

Residents also noted that APM is the alternative party that Makinde suggested, and they are ready to go where he goes.

The reference to APM has further strengthened discussions around the governor’s political direction, with many supporters saying their loyalty remains with Makinde’s leadership and vision. Political observers also noted that Makinde’s approach has earned him goodwill across party lines, with many voters saying performance matters more than political drama at this time.

As the political season intensifies, GSM Advocates maintained that the governor will continue to focus on governance rather than engage in distractions.

“The people are aware. They know those who stood with them and those who only show up during elections. That awareness is why Makinde’s silence is so loud,” Saintabey concluded.
