The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande, has commenced the construction of another Amotekun Security Post in the Agbokojo area of the local government.
The new project is aimed at strengthening the security architecture and improving response time to emergencies within the council area.
Hon. Akande stated that the initiative is in line with the security agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration and the council’s commitment to making Ibadan South West one of the safest local governments in Oyo State.
“This is another bold step to boost our security network. The establishment of this Amotekun post in Agbokojo will bring security personnel closer to the people and help in quick intervention whenever the need arises,” Hon. Akande stated.
He noted that insecurity thrives where there is a gap in presence and surveillance, adding that the new post will complement existing security outfits and conventional agencies already working in the local government.
The Chairman commended Governor Makinde for his continuous support to local governments in the area of security logistics, and also appreciated the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, for their dedication to duty.
Community leaders and residents of Agbokojo who were present at the event lauded Hon. Akande for siting the project in their area. They described it as a welcome development that will help checkmate crime, kidnapping, and other security threats around the axis.
“We have been calling for more security presence here. With this Amotekun post, we believe our markets, schools, and homes will be safer,” one of the community leaders said.
Hon. Akande assured that the project will be completed on schedule and equipped with necessary logistics to ensure effective operation. He also charged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information.
This marks the second Amotekun security post being facilitated by the Hon. Kehinde Akande-led administration in Ibadan South West Local Government within the year, as part of efforts to expand the security net across all wards.
