As Nigeria marks another milestone in its democratic journey, the Executive Chairman of Atiba Local Government, Hon. Wahab Adetunji WABKEM, has extended warm greetings to the good people of Atiba and Nigerians at large on the occasion of Democracy Day.
In a goodwill message commemorating the day, Hon. WABKEM paid glowing tribute to the enduring spirit of the Nigerian people and their unwavering belief in the principles of democracy, freedom, and justice.

“Democracy Day is a celebration of our collective resolve to uphold the rule of law, protect civil liberties, and empower the people through inclusive governance. It is a reminder of how far we have come, and the work we must continue to do to strengthen our democratic institutions,” Hon. WABKEM stated.

The Chairman emphasized that democracy thrives best at the grassroots, where the voices of the people are most directly heard and where governance is felt the most. He called on citizens to remain active participants in the democratic process by engaging in community development, holding leaders accountable, and promoting peace and unity.
“Our democracy must be built from the ground up — with transparency, accountability, and genuine participation. At Atiba Local Government, we are committed to delivering good governance that reflects the true aspirations of our people,” he affirmed.
Hon. WABKEM also commended the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, under whom Oyo State has witnessed significant growth, guided by democratic ideals and people-oriented policies.
He concluded by encouraging residents to reflect on the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s democratic heroes and to renew their commitment to the values of peace, unity, and national development.
“Let us continue to build the Nigeria of our dreams — one community, one voice, one purpose at a time,” Hon. WABKEM urged.
