Firefighters Averts Destructive Inferno In Oyo Town

Intervention by officers of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Oyo Zonal Command, on Wednesday, averted what could have been a devastating fire incident at Aladota, Oke-Olola area of Oyo town.

The fire outbreak, reported at about 9:08 a.m., was brought to the attention of the Agency through a running caller, Mr. Adewale Muideen, who arrived on a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number LEW 234 OY.

Upon receiving the distress call, a fire response team led by PFS II Makinde was immediately deployed to the scene. On arrival, officers discovered that the last room on the right side of a ten-room ancient residential building was engulfed in flames.

According to the Agency’s report, the firefighters swiftly curtailed the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjoining rooms. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire resulted from an electrical spark that ignited nearby combustible materials.

No casualties were recorded in the incident, and properties worth millions of naira were salvaged through the prompt response of the fire crew.

The Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, commended the firefighters for their professionalism. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and to ensure the availability of functional fire extinguishers in homes and workplaces.

The Zonal Commander, CFS Adeduntan, was also in attendance at the operation, which concluded with the fire appliance returning to the station at 10:00 a.m.
