Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, Oyo Commissioner for Youth and Sports, has reaffirmed Governor Seyi Makinde ‘s commitment to see the growth of youth across all sectors in Oyo State . Speaking at the Agbeni/Ogunpa /Agbaje Youth Market Association’s end-of-year program, Adegoke emphasized the importance of identifying with the vibrancy and potential of the youth in the market community.
“We recognize the energy, creativity, and innovation that our youth bring to the table,” Adegoke said. “As a government, we are committed to providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive.”
She stated that Governor Makinde’s passion for youth development is well-documented. As Commissioner for Youth and Sports, she has witnessed, Governor Makinde implementing various initiatives aimed at empowering young people in Oyo State. She noted that what the state government pour into economy of the state monthly due to workers salaries and other developmental activities are yield positive results in our markets across the state.
During the program, Adegoke interacted with young people from the market community, listening to their concerns and ideas. She emphasized the need for collaboration and collective efforts to drive positive change in the community.
“We must work together to create opportunities for our youth to grow and develop,” Adegoke said. “By doing so, we can build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our community.” Adegoke’s commitment to youth development is in line with the Oyo State Government’s vision to empower young people and create opportunities for their growth and development.
As the year comes to a close, Adegoke’s message of hope and empowerment is a timely reminder of the importance of investing in the youth. With her leadership and dedication, the youth in Oyo State’s market community can look forward to a brighter future.
The Agbeni Market Association’s end-of-year program was attended by market leaders, youth representatives, and other stakeholders, she was honoured with two distinctive award, Youth Advocacy Award and Social Impact Award in celebrating the Commissioner’s advocacy efforts, championing the rights and interests of young people, and promoting their active participation in society as well as the commissioner’s contributions to creating positive social impact, addressing social issues, and promoting social justice and equality among young people.
The event featured music, dance, and cultural performances, as well as awards and recognition for outstanding youth achievements.
