The Executive Chairman of Atiba LG Hon. Waliu Wahab Adetunji WABKEM has extended its congratulations to the Seun Ashamu, the Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, following his emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate for the Oyo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Ashamu’s emergence comes after an intense and multi-stage selection process marked by consultations, lobbying, and negotiations among party stakeholders and aspirants across the constituency.

Party insiders disclosed that the process began with preliminary engagements among aspirants, followed by a series of consultations with party elders and leaders within the constituency. The final decision was reached at a high-level meeting convened and chaired by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which brought together key PDP leaders and all aspirants in the constituency.

According to sources present at the meeting, discussions were initially deadlocked due to divergent positions among aspirants. However, after prolonged deliberations and appeals by party leadership, aspirants were urged to step down in the interest of party unity.
Subsequent consultations among stakeholders eventually led to a consensus, with Seun Ashamu being unanimously adopted as the party’s candidate for the federal constituency.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of Atiba Local Government praised the outcome, describing Ashamu’s emergence as both strategic and significant for the party’s electoral prospects. He urged the candidate to view his selection as a call to greater responsibility, particularly in securing victory for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.
The chairman also called on other aspirants to support the consensus candidate, emphasizing party unity as critical to electoral success. He reassured them that their political aspirations remain valid, noting that future opportunities within the party structure remain open.
He further expressed optimism that the PDP would achieve a sweeping victory in the upcoming elections if party members remain united and committed.
