The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Akande, has assured residents that the month of July will be safer and more peaceful across all wards.
In a new month message released from the Council Secretariat on Wednesday, Akande said the council began July with a renewed focus on protecting lives, property and businesses in the local government area.
He said the administration has spent the last few weeks reviewing security reports, engaging stakeholders, and mapping areas that need more attention. The goal, he added, is to make residents feel safer at home, in markets, and on major roads as the second half of the year begins.
“ We want traders to sell without fear, students to go to school safely, and families to rest at night without worry,” Akande stated.
The Chairman described July as a month to strengthen trust between the government and the people. He said his administration will not take the peace of Ibadan South West for granted, especially with increased activities expected in markets and neighborhoods this month.
“July will be safer because we are taking action early. But security is a collective responsibility. I appeal to our people to remain vigilant, report suspicious movements and avoid jungle justice. When we work together, crime has no hiding place,” he said..
He urged parents, youth groups, market associations, and landlords to take part in the forums. According to him, local intelligence remains one of the most effective tools to prevent crime before it happens.
The Chairman ended his message with prayers and goodwill for the new month. He asked residents to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and supportive of government efforts.
“I wish every family in Ibadan South West a peaceful, safe, and prosperous month of July. Together, we will keep our LGA safe,” Akande said.
