The Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele (Lajue), has felicitated Muslim faithful across Oyo State and Nigeria on the occasion of the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a goodwill message, Oyedele described the Maulud celebration as a significant occasion for Muslims and all Nigerians to reflect on the exemplary life and teachings of the Prophet, particularly his virtues of compassion, humility, honesty, patience, integrity and selfless service to humanity.
The Egbeda council boss noted that the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remains a timeless model of responsible leadership and peaceful coexistence, stressing that genuine leadership must be built on truth, justice, compassion for the vulnerable and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
He urged Muslims to emulate the Prophet’s virtues in their daily lives, saying, “As we celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), let us embrace his teachings of honesty, patience, tolerance, and selfless service in our daily dealings, both within our families and in society at large.”
Oyedele also called on Muslims and adherents of other faiths to use the occasion to promote unity, mutual respect, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence across ethnic and religious divides.
He stressed that the long-standing tradition of religious harmony in Ibadan and Oyo State remains a valuable heritage that must be protected and strengthened for future generations.
The chairman further charged leaders at all levels of government to uphold the virtues of justice, accountability, compassion and selfless service, noting that leadership is a responsibility that requires integrity, dedication and genuine concern for the people.
Oyedele wished the Muslim community a peaceful, meaningful and spiritually rewarding Maulud celebration, while praying for sustained peace, unity, development and prosperity in Oyo State and Nigeria.
