The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan South-West Local Government has announced the leadership of its Campaign Council for the forthcoming Governorship and Presidential elections, with Hon. Kehinde Akande named as Coordinator.
The announcement was contained in a statement on the composition of the campaign council signed by the Oyo State Presidential Campaign Coordinator and Director General of the Governorship Election, Dr. Nureni Adeniran.
The statement was issued on Monday after extensive consultations by leaders and stakeholders of the party in the local government on the need to constitute a formidable, experienced and grassroots-driven team to champion the party’s campaign activities.
According to the statement, Hon. Kehinde Akande, a seasoned politician and respected grassroots mobilizer, will serve as the Coordinating Director for the APM Governorship and Presidential Campaign in Ibadan South-West.
Other key appointments into the campaign council include Olumide Bello as Deputy Coordinator, Sekinat Alakija as Women Coordinator, and Ayo Aderibigbe as Secretary of the Campaign Council.
The statement noted that the appointments reflect the party’s commitment to inclusivity, competence and strategic mobilization ahead of the crucial elections.
Speaking on the development, leaders of the APM in Ibadan South-West described Hon. Akande as a loyal party man with proven leadership capacity, deep political experience and wide acceptance across the local government, expressing confidence that he will deliver on the mandate.
They also commended the other appointees, noting that their track records in politics and community engagement will be an added advantage for the party.
“The choice of Hon. Kehinde Akande as Coordinator is well thought out. He is a man of capacity, a bridge-builder and a committed progressive who understands the political dynamics of Ibadan South-West. Together with his team, we are confident of victory for our Governorship and Presidential candidates,” the party stated.
The party further charged the newly constituted council to immediately swing into action by embarking on ward-to-ward engagements, massive voter mobilization and issue-based campaigns that will showcase the APM’s agenda for the people.
The APM leadership also called on all party members, supporters and well-wishers in Ibadan South-West to rally behind the new campaign council and work collectively for the success of the party at the polls.
It was added that the full list of the campaign council members and its campaign itinerary will be unveiled in due course.
