A major political realignment unfolded in Ogo Oluwa Local Government today as a group of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) members officially decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signalling a significant boost for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors, led by Adeniji Paul Oluwasegun (Esupofo) from the Ogbomoso Zone and coordinated locally by Ilufoye Olusanjo in Ajaawa, were formally received into the PDP fold under the leadership of PA John Famakin and the newly elected Local Party Chairman, Mr. Olugbade Adediran, popularly known as Baba Onipele.

The event attracted notable political figures and stakeholders, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ajala Abraham Onaolapo; member representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Constituency at the State Assembly, Hon. Abideen Adeoye Ogundare; State Executive member, Hon. Akinboro Akinsola; former Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ajadi Solomon; as well as PA Odelowo, Mama Ogunwale, and Mr. Abel Asa.

Party leaders described the defection as a strategic win for the PDP in Ogo Oluwa, expressing optimism that the development would strengthen the party’s structure and widen its support base ahead of future elections.
The new leadership of the PDP in Ogo Oluwa Local Government welcomed the decampees warmly, saying the move marks the beginning of a “new era of growth, unity, and political progress” in the area.
