The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagelu Local Government Area has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pa Emmanuel Olubanji Odeleye, a revered elder statesman and dedicated party chieftain who served the party and community with uncommon loyalty and wisdom for decades.
In a heartfelt show of solidarity, the Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, on behalf of the local government administration and the entire PDP family, led a high-powered delegation to the family residence of the deceased in Iyana-church to pay an official condolence visit.
The delegation included the council chairman himself, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen; the leader of legislative arm; Hon. Aduragbemi Emmanuel; the Secretary to the local government, Hon. Gbenga Alade; and the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olubiyi Opeyemi Rasheed, who joined the chairman to commiserate with the Odeleye family and pray for the peaceful repose of the departed patriarch.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kamorudeen described Pa Odeleye as “a rare gem, a unifier, and a pillar of progressive politics in Lagelu.” He noted that the late elder’s contributions to the growth of PDP in the local government remained indelible.
“Pa Emmanuel Olubanji Odeleye lived a life of service. He was a father to all, a counsellor to many, and a committed party man till the very end. His wise counsel and steadfast support will be sorely missed. On behalf of the good people of Lagelu, we pray that God grants his soul eternal rest and gives the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the chairman said.
Responding on behalf of the family, the wife of the deceased thanked the council Chairman and the entire PDP family in Lagelu for identifying with them in their moment of grief. He described the visit as a testament to her husband’s lifelong dedication to the party and the community.
The condolence visit further underscores the strong bond and unity within the PDP fold in Lagelu Local Government as members rally around one of their own in a time of mourning.
