Ibadan South West Local Government Chairman, Honourable Kehinde Akande, has stated that the government served due notification to land invaders and illegal occupants before demolishing structures along the Railway-110 Road corridor. This move is part of the government’s effort to clear encroachments on the road reserve and setbacks.
According to Akande, the government had served them removal notice, which expired, followed by a subsequent reminder offering a final opportunity for voluntary compliance and relocation. The government is set to commence road construction on the cleared land, aiming to alleviate congestion along the busy Aleshinloye, Ring Road, and Iyanganku axis. This development is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and ease the daily commute for road users in the area. By creating a more efficient transportation network, the project seeks to boost economic activity and enhance overall quality of life for residents.
Honourable Akande emphasized that adequate prior notice was served to affected landowners, ensuring they were aware of the impending demolition. He also confirmed that all relevant security agencies were duly informed and present at the site, including the DPO Iyaganku, Eleyele Command, DSS, NSCDC, Operation Burst, and Amotekun Corp. This, he said, was to ensure a peaceful and orderly exercise. Akande further assured that the operation was carried out professionally by the technical team, with no incidence of violence or disruption, and notably, no thugs were present at the site. Properties belonging to Nigerian Railway Corporation were not taken away by any representative of the local or state government.

Faith and Miracle International Church, led by Snr. Prophet G.F. David, has expressed readiness to partner with the government to ensure the effective utilization of the road setback for construction and improved access. He commended the government’s efforts to boost road connectivity, describing it as a “welcome development” that will benefit the community. The church is willing to support initiatives that enhance the area’s infrastructure and overall well-being of residents.
