
Chief. Alani Oyeniyi, the Aare of Akoboland, has publicly lauded Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his ambitious plan to upgrade the Ibadan Airport to international standards. In a recent statement, Aare Oyeniyi highlighted the transformative potentials of the initiative for the region’s economy and connectivity.

“The governor’s decision to enhance the airport’s status is seen as a vital step in positioning Ibadan as a key business, transportation and economic hub in Nigeria”— Oyeniyi expressed optimism about the upgrade plan, emphasizing its expected benefits for trade, tourism, and local development.

He particularly commended the appointment of Bimbo Adekanmbi as the chairman of committee responsible for overseeing the upgrade project. “Bimbo Adekanmbi’s experience and commitment to community development obviously makes him an excellent choice for the critical role,” Oyeniyi stated. “His leadership and expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that the upgrade project is executed efficiently and effectively.”

Highlighting the upgrade plan’s aims to improve on airport facilities, expand runway capacity, and enhance passenger services, which are all essential for attracting international airlines and increasing air traffic.
