A business Mogul and Fellow of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (FTPI), Dr (Apostle) Emmanuel Aderemi Awode has promised full support for The Polytechnic Ibadan in the quest to sustain its academic excellence as a frontline Polytechnic in Nigeria.
Dr Emmanuel Aderemi Awode made this promise while receiving the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Dr Taiwo Abideen LASISI and his Management team who paid him a courtesy visit at the headquarters of his company in Lagos.
Dr Awode who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chemstar Group, a paint making outfit that produces Fincoat paint, Shield paint and allied products as well as Agriculture and poultry investment promised to establish a mini paint industry for the Institution.
He said, the mini paint industry will be involved in the training of TPI students who are interested in paint making business either for personal or commercial purpose.
Dr Awode further said that he benefited immensely from his training at The Polytechnic, Ibadan and therefore said he will continue to support the Institution in the training of world class graduates who will not only contribute to the economic development of the country in the future but also become employers of labour.
Dr Awode who had single-handedly built and equipped a Chemistry laboratory for the Institution, has consistently supported the Institution and give automatic employment to best student in Chemistry department and overall best student in the Institution for about two decades.
The business Mogul also have several products of The Polytechnic, Ibadan on his payroll.The Acting Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Dr Taiwo Abideen LASISI, in his response thanked Dr Awode for his unparalleled love and consistent support for The Polytechnic, Ibadan, his alma mater.
Dr Lasisi called on other products of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to emulate Dr Awode by coming to the aid of the Institution, most especially in the area of provision of academic equipment, rehabilitation of structures and erection of new facilities.
He also charged the current Students of the Institution to emulate the business Mogul by imbibing positive attributes that will make them future leaders and employers of labour and consequently contribute to the economic development of the country.
Among those on the entourage of the Acting Rector were the Deputy Rector, Mrs Olaide SALAWU, the Acting Registrar, Mr Joseph Adewumi OGUNJIMI, Engr. Adeniran the acting director of works and services, the Dean Faculty of Science, Dr Bolanle OSENI and the head of Chemistry department, Mrs Adenike ADEGBOYEGA.
Also on the entourage were the Deputy Registrar, (Office of the Rector), Mrs Abosede AYOADE, Public Relation Officer of the Institution, Mr Soladoye ADEWOLE and the personal assistant to the Rector, Mr Olajide OLAOYE.
