Farmers in Egbeda Local Government Area have lauded the Oyo State Government for its continued support to the agricultural sector, as the council chairman, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, officially flagged off the distribution of farm inputs to local farmers.
The event, held earlier this week, featured the distribution of fertilisers (NPK), herbicides, soya beans, and maize seeds. Hon. Sanda, represented by the Supervisor for Agriculture, Hon. Tayewo Job, said the initiative—executed through the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA)—is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s broader strategy to boost food production, alleviate economic hardship, and ensure food security across the state.

“OYSADA has been working tirelessly to deliver agricultural resources to farmers at the grassroots. We expect these inputs to translate into abundant and bountiful harvests within our council area and across Oyo State,” Hon. Sanda stated.

Director General of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande, praised Governor Makinde’s giant strides in advancing agribusiness, urging farmers to visit the state’s agribusiness hubs in Fashola and Eruwa to witness first-hand the government’s investments in the sector.
At the ceremony, agricultural expert Mr. Oyekan trained beneficiaries on effective crop planting techniques and the proper application of inputs for maximum yield.
Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Egbeda chapter, Pastor Francis Dairo, expressed gratitude to the government, assuring that the inputs would be put to judicious use to achieve bumper harvests within three months.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Olusola Olakanmi; Supervisor for Youths and Sports, Hon. Adio Babatunde Qozeem; Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Adewale Ayanniyi; Mr. Popoola, OYSADA Coordinator; as well as heads of departments, deputies, and farmers from across the council.
