The Oyo youths have successfully bagged prestigious positions in the Southwest Youth Parliament. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde’s Senior Special Assistant on Student Matters, Hon. Victor Olojede, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Adegoke Wasilat, and Hon. Falana for their significant roles in this remarkable achievement.
In a heartwarming display of youth inclusion and leadership recognition, three outstanding young leaders from Oyo State have been officially appointed as members of the Southwest Youth Parliament (SWYP), representing the three senatorial districts of the state.
According to official appointment letters released by the Parliament and signed by Rt. Hon. Temitope E. Joseph, Speaker of the Parliament, and Rotimi Olabode, Clerk to the Parliament, the appointees include:
Hon. Omoniyi Afeez Oladimeji, Member representing Oyo North Senatorial District,
Hon. Ajibode Oluleke Benjamin, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, and
Hon. Ogunjobi Feranmi Oladimeji, representing Oyo South Senatorial District.
Their appointments, which take effect from January 1, 2024, are in recognition of their demonstrated leadership qualities, civic awareness, and commitment to public service.
The trio, while expressing deep appreciation for the recognition, extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Victor Olojede for his pivotal role in nominating and supporting their emergence. They described him as a true advocate of youth development and an inspiring bridge between government and the young generation.
They also appreciated Hon. Adegoke Wasilat, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, and Hon. Falana for their consistent encouragement, policy guidance, and support for youth empowerment across the state. According to them, their offices have remained strong pillars in advancing Governor Makinde’s youth-friendly vision and ensuring that young people have access to leadership platforms like the Southwest Youth Parliament.
In a joint appreciation message, the newly appointed Youth Parliamentarians noted that Hon. Olojede’s, Hon. Adegoke’s, and Hon. Falana’s commitment to promoting youth voices across Oyo State has once again manifested in their appointments — reaffirming the Makinde administration’s belief in empowering young people for leadership and governance roles.
“We owe our gratitude to Hon. Victor Olojede, Hon. Adegoke Wasilat, and Hon. Falana for their trust, mentorship, and unwavering support. This appointment is not just a personal milestone but a collective victory for the youth of Oyo State. We assure our fellow young people in Oyo North, Central, and South that their interests will be fully protected and advanced in this new responsibility,” the statement read.
They also extended appreciation to all youth stakeholders, student leaders, and political associates across Oyo State for their unrelenting support, encouragement, and belief in their capacities.
The appointees reaffirmed their commitment to the objectives of the Southwest Youth Parliament, which include active participation in policy discussions, youth engagement initiatives, and fostering democratic values aimed at building a better and more inclusive society.
“This is a call to serve with dedication, innovation, and integrity. We will continue to represent the aspirations of Oyo youths and uphold the ideals of responsible leadership,” they added.
With this development, Oyo State once again stands tall in youth leadership representation within the region, aligning with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde for a youth-driven and development-focused Oyo State.
