The Oyo State Fire Service, Saki Station, on Monday, November 3, 2025, successfully extinguished a fire outbreak at Abu Badmus Filling Station, Ago-Omoluabi area, Okerete Road, Saki.
The distress call was received at exactly 17:03hrs through a running caller, identified as Alhaji Tajudeen A. Olaore. Firefighters, led by CFS Ayegbokiki, were immediately mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, the station was found engulfed in heavy flames and thick smoke.
The emergency crew rapidly deployed firefighting measures, preventing the inferno from spreading to adjoining buildings and other properties. The operation was completed without casualties. However, the fire affected the petrol station and a pickup van parked within the premises.
The Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, commended the swift response of the Saki fire team and emphasized the need for heightened fire safety consciousness, particularly in high-risk facilities such as petrol stations. He also urged businesses and households to equip their premises with functional fire extinguishers to tackle incidents at the early stage.
The presence and support of officers from the Nigeria Police, Saki Divisional Command, were acknowledged for providing security during the operation.
