Ibadan South West Local Government, under the leadership of Honourable Kehinde Akande, will today commission two newly constructed primary health centres to expand access to quality healthcare for residents.
The facilities set for commissioning are Akuro Primary Health Centre and Bode Primary Health Centre. According to the council, the construction and equipping of both centres are part of Hon. Akande’s commitment to bringing primary healthcare closer to the people at the grassroots.

Residents and community leaders from Akuro and Bode areas are expected to join government officials, health workers, and political stakeholders at the commissioning ceremonies. The event will showcase the new buildings, modern medical equipment, and service capacity now available at the two centres.

Hon. Kehinde Akande said the newly constructed Akuro and Bode PHCs reflect his administration’s belief that a healthy community is the foundation for economic growth and social stability. He noted that the local government worked in collaboration with the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board to ensure the centres are fully equipped and ready for immediate use. He added that arrangements are in place to ensure adequate staffing and supply of essential drugs.
Health workers and residents in both communities have expressed appreciation for the intervention, stating that the new facilities will reduce the burden of traveling long distances for basic medical care. The centres are designed to handle maternal and child health services, immunization, antenatal care, treatment of common ailments, and health education.
The commissioning today marks another milestone in Hon. Akande’s drive to improve service delivery in Ibadan South West. With the addition of Akuro and Bode PHCs, the council says it is moving closer to its goal of ensuring every ward has access to functional primary healthcare.
