The candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has appointed the Oyo State Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, as Chairman of the party’s Campaign Council in the constituency.

The announcement was made on Sunday during the party’s ward tour of Wards 3 and 4 in Oluyole Local Government Area, where the APM also welcomed a large group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors, led by Mr. Ibikunle Morruf, were formally received into the APM during the Ward 3 meeting.

Mogbonjubola, who attended the event alongside other party stakeholders, welcomed the new members and assured them of equal opportunities within the party.

Addressing supporters during the tour, Olatunji expressed confidence in the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that APM was focused on securing decisive victories across all elective positions.

“We are not working on winning alone; we are working on winning by a landslide victory via wide margin, so convincingly that there will be no grounds for anyone to challenge the results in court,” he said.

He added that members of the party were united in their resolve to work for the success of all APM candidates, from the presidential election down to councillorship positions.

“For the first time, we are all working together as a team to ensure the victory of all our candidates. By the time we have these leaders in office, many opportunities and development will become available for our people,” Olatunji stated.

The APM Reps candidate subsequently announced Mogbonjubola as Chairman of the Campaign Council for his House of Representatives bid and that of the incumbent member representing Oluyole State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo.

Speaking at the party meeting, the APM Chairman in Oluyole Local Government, Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat, urged members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the party.

He stressed that unity, loyalty and dedication would be crucial to the party’s success in future elections and called on members to continue working collectively towards achieving the party’s objectives.

Hamzat also expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, assuring members that greater opportunities and benefits would accrue to the people if APM candidates emerged victorious in their respective contests.

The ward tour forms part of the party’s ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event recorded the presence of several party leaders and stakeholders, including former Oluyole Local Government Chairman, Hon. Olaide Popoola; immediate past party chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola; Vice Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Niyi Akorede.

Others are former council chairman, Hon. Kehinde Abore; former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Salawu; Hon. Akinsanmi Ajao; members of the local government executive, ward chairmen, political appointees, women groups and party faithful.
