Residents of Atiba Local Government Area have been urged to comply fully with a 48-hour curfew imposed by the Oyo State Government as security agencies intensify operations against criminal activities around the Old Oyo National Park and adjoining communities.
The directive, approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, is part of a coordinated security effort aimed at combating kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities that have recently posed threats to peace and security in parts of the state.

According to a statement issued to residents, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. throughout the 48-hour period. During the restricted hours, movement of residents, vehicles, commercial motorcycles, and other means of transportation will be prohibited, except for personnel engaged in authorized essential services.

The government explained that the measure became necessary to enable security operatives to carry out intensive operations in forest areas around the Old Oyo National Park, which are believed to have been used as hideouts by criminal elements.
Authorities noted that the operation is also designed to complement ongoing efforts to rescue abducted victims and restore lasting peace and security to affected communities.
Residents were advised to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies throughout the exercise. They were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to relevant authorities.
The statement emphasized that public support and strict adherence to the curfew would play a crucial role in the success of the operation and in safeguarding lives and property across the affected areas.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining law and order, while appealing for patience and understanding as security agencies carry out their assignment.
Stakeholders and community leaders have also been encouraged to support the initiative as part of collective efforts to secure communities and eliminate criminal activities within the region.
