The Executive Chairman of Atiba Local Government, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji, has expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God over the safe return of the pupils and teachers abducted from the Ahoro-Esinle community in Oriire Local Government Area, describing their release as a moment of relief and renewed hope for Oyo State and the nation.
In a statement issued following the victims’ release, the chairman said the development has brought immense joy to the affected families and everyone who prayed fervently for their safe return. He noted that the reunion of the victims with their loved ones marks the triumph of hope over fear and serves as a testament to the resilience of the people during the trying period.
Hon. Adetunji commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, community leaders, and all stakeholders whose coordinated efforts made the successful rescue possible. He praised their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting lives, stressing that their contributions deserve the appreciation of all Nigerians.
The Atiba council boss also congratulated the Executive Chairman of Oriire Local Government and applauded the courage, patience, and resilience demonstrated by the people of the council throughout the period of uncertainty.
While celebrating the successful release of the victims, Hon. Adetunji emphasized the need for sustained efforts to strengthen security around schools and communities. He stressed that every child deserves access to education in a safe and secure environment, calling on governments at all levels, security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and citizens to work collectively in safeguarding lives and public institutions.
He further offered prayers for the released pupils and teachers, asking God to grant them complete healing from the traumatic experience, restore their peace of mind, strengthen their families, and give them the courage to move forward with renewed confidence and hope.
The chairman concluded by praying for continued peace, security, and progress in Atiba and Oriire Local Government Areas, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
