The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has once again demonstrated its commitment to protecting lives and property, responding promptly to three separate fire-related emergencies across Oyo and Ibadan between Saturday, 18th, and Sunday, 19th October 2025.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Agbaakin’s Compound, Fiditi area of Oyo. The distress call, received at exactly 1:15 a.m. from Chief Orisabiyi Agbaakin, reported a house engulfed in flames. Officers of the Oyo Zonal Command, led by PFS II Makinde, swiftly mobilized to the scene, where they discovered an ancient ten-room residential building already consumed by fire.
The firefighters worked tirelessly to subdue the inferno, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Although the building suffered severe damage, no casualties were recorded. Investigations revealed that the fire was caused by an unattended coal pot that ignited nearby combustible materials.

In another incident the same day, officers of the Agency, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, responded to a fire outbreak at Atipe Junction in Ibadan North-East Local Government at about 3:23 a.m. The fire, which involved a four-room building with three adjoining shops, was quickly contained before it could spread to other houses in the vicinity.
No lives were lost, and the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.

Barely 24 hours later, on Sunday evening, the Agency averted a potentially catastrophic petrol tanker explosion at Iroko Town along the Oyo–Ibadan Expressway. A distress call received at 5:54 p.m. from a passerby, Mr. Okunola, reported that a 60,000-litre petrol-laden MACK trailer with registration number GZA 550 XA had lost control and veered into a ditch, spilling its contents.
Firemen led by CFS Olayiwola quickly applied chemical foam compound to suppress the flammability of the leaking petrol, successfully preventing an explosion. No casualties were recorded in the incident.
