As concerns over insecurity continue to dominate national discourse, Lagelu Local Government has intensified efforts to safeguard lives and property through its community-driven security framework.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the council carried out another edition of its flagship Operation Show of Force, a coordinated security exercise designed to reinforce public safety and reassure residents across the local government area.

The operation, which lasted several hours, featured a joint convoy of security personnel that traversed major communities and settlements within the council. The convoy departed from the Local Government Secretariat at Iyana Offa and moved through Offa Adedokun, Papa Town, Lamuyan, Ajipa, Alape, Elesu, Apatere, Oyedeji, Igbo Elerin, Sagbe/Pabiekun, Eleruko, Olosunde, Kutayi/Ogunremi, Olowode/Akintounwa, Ogburo Town, Lagun Town and other communities across the local government.

Speaking after the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, said the council has developed a robust and inclusive security model that has enabled the area to maintain relative peace despite the broader security challenges confronting parts of the country.
According to him, the Operation Show of Force initiative, which commenced in December 2025, has continued to serve as a strong deterrent against criminal activities while strengthening the relationship between security agencies and local communities.
“Since the commencement of this initiative in December 2025, Operation Show of Force has served as a strong deterrent to criminal elements. Our security forces maintain constant and close contact with every community, town, village, religious centres, ‘omo adugbo’ and all community-based groups across Lagelu, regardless of how remote they may be,” Kamorudeen stated.
The chairman explained that the council’s security architecture is built on collaboration among both conventional and non-conventional security outfits operating within the local government. He noted that the framework integrates the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Operation Burst, Amotekun Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagelu Security Network (LSN), local hunters, Agbekoya operatives and other community-based security groups.
Kamorudeen further disclosed that the exercise is conducted twice every month to ensure visible policing, improve intelligence gathering and enhance rapid response capabilities across all communities in the council area.
He commended the various security agencies and operatives for their commitment, professionalism and cooperation, describing their synergy as critical to sustaining peace and security in the local government.
The chairman also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information, stressing that community participation remains a vital component of the council’s security strategy.
