The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Honourable Kehinde Akande inspected the newly completed 2.45km Aleshinloye/Golden Tulip/Foodco Jericho Junction road project within the local government area.
Hon. Akande was joined on the inspection tour by key officials of the council, including the Supervisory Councillor for Works, Honourable Kazeem Ashipa, Supervisory Councillor for Infrastructure, Hon. Tunde Oluyedun, the Director of Works, the Deputy Director of Works, and other top functionaries.
Speaking during the inspection, the IBSWLG Chairman stated that the local government is replicating the good work of Governor Seyi Makinde at the grassroots level. “What His Excellency is doing across Oyo State must be reflected in our local governments and that is why we are doing this. Our people deserve quality infrastructure that will ease movement, boost commerce, and improve living standards,” Akande said.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on the 2.45km stretch, which connects Aleshinloye Market through Golden Tulip to Foodco at Jericho Junction. He noted that the road is a critical commercial corridor that serves thousands of traders, motorists, and residents daily.
Hon. Akande commended the Works Department for its supervision. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, stressing that more inner-city roads would receive attention in line with Governor Makinde’s roadmap for accelerated development.
“The era of abandoned projects is over. We are focused on delivering projects that have direct impact on our people. This road will reduce traffic, open up businesses, and complement the state government’s efforts,” he added.
Residents and traders along the axis who spoke during the inspection hailed the Chairman for prioritizing the road, describing it as a major relief for the community.
The Aleshinloye , Golden Tulip ,Foodco Jericho Junction road is one of several ongoing infrastructure interventions by the Akande-led administration in Ibadan South West Local Government.
