The excitement continued on Day 2 of the Eletu Summer Coaching Programme in Ibadan South West Local Government, as parents, students, and community leaders gathered to commend the initiative and its sponsor, Honourable Kehinde Akande, for sustaining the annual summer school programme.
The coaching sessions, held at the UMC center within the LGA, drew a large turnout of pupils and secondary school students eager to use the holiday productively. The programme focuses on academic coaching, skills development, and moral training aimed at keeping young people engaged during the long break.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, parents expressed appreciation for the continuity of the programme, noting that it has become a yearly intervention that eases the burden on families while preparing students for the next academic session.

“We are grateful to Honourable Kehinde Akande for remembering our children every year. This programme is not just about lessons, it is about giving our children hope and direction,” said Mrs. Adebayo, a parent from Molete area.
Students also shared their enthusiasm about the coaching. For 14-year-old Yusuf Akinola, the summer class is an opportunity to sharpen his skills in Mathematics and English while also meeting new friends.
“I like coming here because the teachers explain well and it is free. Honourable Akande is doing a good thing for us,” he said.
Community leaders present at the session praised the consistency of the initiative, describing it as one of the most impactful grassroots education programmes in the LGA.
Engr Lamidi Oyekanmi, a community leader at Anfanni , noted that the programme has helped reduce idleness among youths during holidays and has produced students who performed excellently in WAEC and JAMB in previous years.
“Honourable Kehinde Akande has shown that leadership is about continuity. Year after year, he keeps this programme alive for our children. We pray God continues to strengthen him,” the Baale stated.
Teachers have also commended the students for their punctuality and discipline on Day 2, and urged parents to ensure their wards attend regularly throughout the duration of the coaching.
The Eletu Summer Coaching Programme is part of Honourable Kehinde Akande’s broader commitment to education and youth development in Ibadan South West Local Government. The initiative has run for several years and continues to benefit hundreds of students across different wards in the LGA.
The coaching is expected to run for four weeks, with participants engaging in academics, career talks, and extracurricular activities.
