Stakeholders in the Òkèògùn region have firmly rejected Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli’s 2027 governorship ambition following his recent visit to Ṣakí.

Alli, who represents Ọ̀yọ́ South Senatorial District, reportedly stated that 2027 is not the turn of Òkèògùn and suggested that calls for power shift should wait until after his own tenure. The remark sparked immediate backlash, with many describing it as dismissive of the region’s long-standing demand for inclusion.

In response, a socio-political group, Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa, declared that Òkèògùn will not support any candidate outside Ibadan in 2027, insisting that the governorship must reflect fairness, equity, and balanced representation.

The group also criticized recent political consultations as exclusionary and reaffirmed its stance through a peaceful protest in Ṣakí.

With tensions rising, Òkèògùn leaders have made their position clear: the region will only back outside Ibadan candidate in the 2027 election.
